This is one of the few large silver sets made by the Franklin Mint in the mid 1980’s. Very few new issues – especially large ones – were made after 1980 because the much higher price of silver made the sets quite expensive. This is a fine art medal set similar to the 100 Greatest Masterpieces, Leonardo Da Vinci, and Rembrandt sets, but has only 12 very large and heavy medals. It is exceptionally rare. It’s also one of the few sets minted in .999 silver rather than sterling silver.
